From 0.5.2 to 0.5.3 beta there isn’t an update package. I will think about it when the final version will be ready.

tasklist is a windows program included in xp pro and later. If you use XP Home Edition you have to find somewhere a tasklist.exe and copy it in C:WindowsSystem32

    Some news:

vlc-shares 0.5.3 beta is available with a new version of megavideo plugin (0.2beta).

I’ve forgot to say that the new management gui available in vlc-shares 0.5.3 is compatible with Internet Explorer 9

    The changelog:

    *** 0.5.3 beta (19/02/2010) ***

    – Cache plugin integrated
    – Lazy plugins configuration redirect on configs change fixed
    – [MobileRenderer] Fixed a bug in mode/selection page that provoke multiple calls to the same page
    – [FileSystem] Disable cache when it’s the provider
    – [PluginInstaller] VERSION_TO param in plugin manifest is handled as an upper bound and it’s the first incompatible version
    – [PluginInstaller] Fixed regression in plugin removal procedure
    – Translation function allow params substitution
    – [EXTRA][JDownloader] JDownloader plugin added
    – [EXTRA][Megavideo] Fixed regression in category removal/rename
    – [EXTRA][Megavideo] Missing translation strings added
    – [EXTRA][Youtube,Megavideo] Cache disabled when playlist is built with local data only
    – [EXTRA][AnimeFTW, AnimeDB, Megavideo] Form password element type changed to password
    – [EXTRA][AnimeFTW, AnimeDB, Megavideo] Cookie jar reset on plugin configs change

2 new plugins are available too:

    • the first one is the cache plugin for vlc-shares version 0.5.1 and 0.5.2. Allow to store fetched data from channels to reduce requests to the hoster site. Channel browsing should be faster now.
    • JDownloader integration plugin for vlc-shares version 0.5.3 beta and later: allow to check JDownloader status from vlc-shares (start/stop/pause downloads) and to enqueue in the download list Megavideo links from other channels (jigoku, megavideo, animedb… etc etc). Remember that JDownloader RemoteAPI must be enabled. This plugin requires megavideo plugin v0.2beta+ and vlc-shares 0.5.3beta and later

    I’ve no experience with Lighttpd.
If you want to get errors open the file vlc-shares/public/index.php and change line 9 from

        || define('APPLICATION_ENV', (getenv('APPLICATION_ENV') ? getenv('APPLICATION_ENV') : 'production'));

    to

        || define('APPLICATION_ENV', (getenv('APPLICATION_ENV') ? getenv('APPLICATION_ENV') : 'development'));

or set a new webserver env variable APPLICATION_ENV to development in your webserver configuration.

Ps. mysql is useless for vlc-shares. Be sure to have sqlite3 and pdo_sqlite ext enabled

    Edit:
A problem is related to mod_rewrite configuration. You can’t use the .htaccess file with lighttpd. You can find more tips here http://framework.zend.com/wiki/display/ZFDEV/Configuring%2BYour%2BURL%2BRewriter

I just added Megaupload videos support. It will be in svn trunk soon. Just a bit of code cleanup

Moomr links are megaupload’s links: the format of the link is

    http://www.megavideo.com/?d=XXXXXXXX

The Megavideo plugin actually allows to watch only megavideo videos: the valid format is

    http://www.megavideo.com/?v=XXXXXXXX

I will try to add support for megaupload’s videos in the next version, but there is no ETA.

Yes. Root folders cannot be shared when installing vlc-shares in windows: https://code.google.com/p/vlc-shares/issues/detail?id=8

I’ll solve this bug for 0.6/0.5.3 release.

Anyway, for your “music folder problem”: the number of sub folders shouldn’t be a problem (or… i think so), but everything is possible. There’s a timeout of 60 seconds waiting for page in wiimc. If you have so many folders maybe this time limit isn’t enough or php exceeded memory limits.

Did you try to browse the folder in browser mode?

    https://code.google.com/p/vlc-shares/wiki/InstallationWindows#Requirement

    1) You have to download ffmpeg binary by yourself. It isn’t included inside vlc-shares.
    2) Most of Megavideo streams uses h264/aac encoding and vlc has a bug that requires the use of video-only transcoding profile as workaround. VLCShares uses ffmpeg helper to identify h264/aac streams. Because of your fail in FFMpeg helper configuration, streams recognition doesn’t work and VLC bug is triggered and transcoded mode doesn’t work.
    3) SouthPark videos are fetched from AllSp.com site dynamically. AllSp uses vimeo for some episodes of 14 season and vimeo isn’t supported by vlc-shares yet. Maybe it will be someday.
