Watch directly = the video is watched as is, no transcoding. But sometimes (for some kind of hosters) vlc-shares have to be used as a proxy for wiimc so videos gone through the pc (for example with megaupload/video with premium account)

Transcoding profile for WiiMC is mpeg2 ts-muxed. If you want to try, change the profile for wiimc to the same one used with android and use the http output. Remember to set the debug log level to INFO if you want more informations in the debug log.

To fix this problem, after installation completed:

1. Shutdown EASYPHP
2. Open folder:

   C:Programs filesVLCSharesconf_files

3. Unzip the attachment of this post inside your desktop folder (it’s one file only)
4. Replace httpd.conf file with the extracted in the previous step
5. Restart EASYPHP

1080p videos watched through VLCShares are transcoded to ¬480p quality and WII has max resolution = 480p. So, no: 1080p transcoded video has not the same quality of the original one.

I have no plan to make video tutorial. Maybe someone else will do it… I did enought.

As side node: I’m working to create a plugin to turn VLCShares in a Upnp/DNLA server/client. I need some testers.

About JDOWNLOADER:

you have to start jdownloader and enable JDRemoteControl extension from JDownloader settings.

Then, go inside vlc-shares’s jdownloader plugin settings page (usually:

http://localhost/vlc-shares/config/index/key/jdownloader

) and insert the right settings for host (if Jdownloader is installed in the same PC of vlc-shares, default one should be ok), JDownloader version… etc etc

Remember that link added to the JDownlaoder queue from VLC-Shares are appended in the JDownloader’s “Link grabber”. You can tweak JDownloader’s settings to auto start downloads from the grabber queue as soon as appended. Read the JDownloader Help page.

Note: Jdownloader plugin doesn’t work really well with JDownloader Nightly and i’ll not fix it untill a new JDownloader stable release

About YOUTUBE:

Youtube videos have to be public to be seen through “Linked Account” feature of VLCShares. If your videos are all public, maybe it’s better if you attach a debug log so I can track the problem (or you can tell me your account id so i can try to reproduce it).

The problem is “not always”. I don’t like it. They have to work always :). I’ll release a new version and l’ll re-enable automatic installation through plugin installer only when they will work always. Meanwhile manual installation is still possible and plugin is available through download section in project site
